Emmalou: Today I’m talking to Brooke Benincosa. She is an intuitive healer. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her for over a year. And what impresses me most of all is her background. So first of all, Brooke, welcome.
Brooke: Thank you for having me.
Emmalou: Well, and I am very appreciative of your time and sharing. You have you have really had the journey in learning about health, can you just tell us about it.
Brooke: So, my journey started in health probably almost 15 years ago now. I started out as a CNA, a certified nursing assistant, and I worked in a nursing home for about six years before I decided to go and get my nursing degree. I went to school, and I got my nursing degree. And then I continued and I got my bachelor’s degree. And I remember being absolutely devastated. My first job as a nurse, I was I was working at the nursing home, and you have about 26 patients to yourself. And I remember, we would hand out so many pills, we would just pass pills for 12 hours. And that was really not what I envisioned, helping people with as being a nurse. So I switched around to a lot of jobs. I worked in the hospitals for about eight years. And I’ve worked in lots of different areas. I’ve worked in hospice, I’ve worked with pediatrics, I’ve worked on cardiac units and ICU, and different things like that. And it just never felt satisfying to me, there’s always something missing. And I could never really pinpoint what that was. And I was also going through my own healing at the time too. And it was a big journey and my big awakening and the more I learned the more I learned that I was just very unsatisfied for a nursing career, because they don’t include holistic care. They don’t include your energy health, your energy body, your emotions, into the health, usually our health care system just kind of looks at you like a robot, they look at your body and they kind of just mask symptoms, or they cut into you surgically without really taking time to get to the root cause of people’s problems and their emotional trauma. And a lot of people’s health can be linked to a lot of emotional trauma, which is stored in the nervous system. And I started taking a martial arts that really opened me up to a lot of energy work, it was called Merpati Putih and they only teach it in Ogden, Utah in all of America, which is crazy, because I live in Ogden, Utah. So it was just like very synchronistic to find this gem in Ogden, Utah and internal martial arts a little bit different than just a fighting style. Martial Arts has a lot to do with learning how to be inside of your mind how to project energy, how to feel energy around inside of you as other places. And so, the more I studied this martial art, the more I could see it in healthcare. And I continue to learn more, and I was meditating one day and Qi Gong kept coming to me. I was like, I have no idea what she got this I have no idea. And I looked into it and it means lifeforce practice and it is over a 7,000 year old practice from Taoist traditions in China, which I have since studied a lot more of and I love the philosophies of it. And I think that really, we bring that into western medicine and combining both the two is such a beautiful way to marry both of these things that I was very passionate about. And I have some quick the hospital and I practice medical Qigong White Tiger Medical Qigong after I quit the hospital, I had a big moment. I decided to give up my whole nursing career and I flew to Italy and I trained with a master. He is fifth generation White Tiger Qigong from China. About this medical Qigong and learning how we store trauma in the body has been very eye opening for me of helping with chronic disease helping people with these vague symptoms that they Never Felt doctors could pinpoint. And that is a big thing of what people I work with is, they’re like, Doc, I keep going to the doctor for this, they can’t help me, I still have this symptom. So, when people come to me, they’re kind of at their last straw with their help, and they’re willing to try anything. And I remember I have this one client, they work, construction, and very painful, very, it’s very hard on your body. And I, he’s like, I get massages, I do all this other stuff, and nothing helps. And I just even gently put my hands on him to tune into his nervous system. And he said, It was amazing with the relief he found in even just 10 minutes.
So, when we think of emotions, it means energy in motion. And you think about this in a scientific way, when, when animals in the wild, they’re constantly under threat, they’re always being hunted, but yet they do not get traumatized like humans do. They are able to shake that off, and go on with their lives without being traumatized. And humans do not do that we instead of shaking it out of our nervous system, and physically releasing that energy trapped in. And when we trap in those emotions, whether it be happiness, sadness, trauma, anger, so many different emotions get trapped into the body. We don’t have a way of releasing it. And then the connective tissue or fascia, your ligaments, your tendons, everything like that, they start locking up around that nerve. And they start building and building is like a protective mechanism, and it starts hardening. And it can cause physical pain, it can cause skeletal structure changes, because it’s pulling so much on one area, and then your body can’t communicate, your body has then lost all communication to that part where you have the trauma. And it’s very common to get back pain, knee pain, stomach pains, so many different types of aches and pains that doctors cannot figure out, it’s usually trapped emotions, and energetic blocks, which can be one in the same. So, when I work with people, I use my Qi Gong, I use my reflexology I use my knowledge of my medical background. And lately, I’ve been really focusing on healing the womb and Hara in men. So, the womb is your creative energy. It’s not only to make babies and create life. But if you have a big project at work that you’re working on, that takes a lot of creative energy, if you want to make big changes in your lifestyle. This takes a lot of creative energy, and our womb, and the Hara is like an energetic junk drawer, it just collects and collects and collects all this trauma into the sacred space. And people start feeling fragmented, they feel disconnected from their body. And that is actually what is physically happening. When you have trauma in your body, your spirit and your soul does not want to be in it because it’s too traumatic. So, we have to coax the spirit back into the body with all of these different methods and all these different techniques, so that you feel re-embodied. And feel that connection to your own body. Because once you start reconnecting to the body, you can listen to the body, you can talk to the body, and it starts to respond to you. And it releases in this beautiful way. And people are amazed by the creative energy they get after these sessions, and how it can help them progress in their life and releasing trauma. I also work a lot with sexual trauma. sexual trauma is very near and dear to my heart because I was raped when I was very young. And I didn’t realize that affected me until like 15 years later, when all of a sudden, I had a breakdown. I was like I’m not okay. And I had to find other ways that weren’t conventional hospital methods to help me move through my trauma. And I have had to bring my spirit back into my body. And so, I’m very passionate about sexual trauma, and learning how to reclaim your body.
And bring that spirit back in is just amazing the healing benefits that adds and it starts with saying this is my body, this is my body and you can actually physically start to tap and wake up the nervous system because we have all those particles from other people and it makes it not feel like we’re owning our body or being embodied. I was listening to an audio book about sexual trauma and I liked how they explained remembering so it’s not remembered like you forgot something but it’s re measuring your body to remember it and bring you back in here and reclaiming that and re-embodying It is so powerful. And I work a lot through the feet. I work a lot through the hands there’s I use all of my knowledge like I was saying In some of these womb sessions, so we’re not just doing energy work, I’m physically massaging the womb, to help stimulate the organs that have to do with hormonal control as well. And releasing those trapped emotions from certain organs and Chinese medicine, different organs will correlate with different emotions. So, the liver has anger, it’s very common to be angry with sexual trauma with any other type of trauma, it doesn’t even have to be sexual. In this book, it even describes when we have a dental procedure, your body responds to that as if you were being traumatized. And we have to go in and we have to do surgery to feel the energy field to heal the body, to heal those organs to really bring you back to wholeness and homeostasis and get you out of survival mode. That’s another common thing I see is people they are stuck in survival mode, and I help I give them these tools, so they can learn how to get themselves out of survival mode, so you can create because you’re not going to do much creating in your life, if you’re stuck in primal survival mode, because your body does not feel safe. You may think that you feel safe, but your body does physically not feel safe, that nervous system does not feel safe for you to heal, to release. And this can cause a lot of inflammation. Inflammation can lead to a lot of chronic diseases, a lot of high blood pressure, a lot of diabetes, a lot of polycystic ovarian syndrome, which helps with fertility in hormonal balance. And even in men, they can have a lot of hormonal balances by not feeling safe.
Emmalou: Wow. Just to reiterate, when you say womb healing, you’re not talking about something specifically for women.
Brooke: Yeah. So, in yoga, and in Qi Gong, the lower energy center is your it’s your main creativity. And so, in yoga, they call them chakras. In Qi Gong, we call them dantians, but it’s the same place. It’s the energetic essence around this energy center and physically massaging the womb in men and women is going to help you because you’re also increasing blood flow. But energetically, you got to clear all that junk out. So, it’s more of an energetic healing and a physical, and men and women can both very much benefit from us.
Emmalou: And so you’re doing individual sessions using all of these modalities that you have been studying, do you just offer individual sessions and does it normally take more than one session,
Brooke: It depends on how much the body is ready to release. So it’s different for everyone. So we use muscle testing to see how many sessions you will need. And your body will tell you because some trauma is it’s tricky to release, some people release very well. So it just depends on what the subconscious and the nervous system is allowing you to release at that time. And we can always muscle test and see how many sessions you need. And I am creating an online program to help with this. So I can teach people how to do these things on their own at home. And I do feel that in person sessions are very powerful as well.
Emmalou: Okay, so in person sessions are preferable, but you’re saying you can work remotely. So are you doing a session online or just teaching these skills?
Brooke: I do a lot of teaching. And if they want, they can book me for a distance intuitive reading session. So if people are don’t live in Utah, they can’t come to me, they can very much contact me online and have, we can have a zoom call. And I can go through and I can clear their energy that way too.
Emmalou: I thought it was interesting what you said about the muscle testing, because your body knows. And that’s we do something very similar in hypnosis, I use a method called the Simpson Protocol. And again, it is based on individuals. And it’s what you’re ready for. I like the comment you made about animals are in life threatening situations every day. And you’ll see two people go through the same experience. And one recovers fairly quickly. And the other one is never the same again. So, they’re individual reactions, and you have to work with those. But you said is with the body so it’s not just with the person, the mind. It’s both right, mind and body.
Brooke: Yeah, it’s your subconscious and it’s your physical body and your emotional body. And we kind of have to get all those on the same page for you to really release but some, some people are different and everyone’s different. And when I have these sessions, I go through like a medical history. You’re at the doctor, I take your full history, I asked you about your past experiences, I asked you about your past trauma. And that way it can kind of guide me when I’m doing an intuitive session on where we need to go and start.
Emmalou: That sounds powerful. So, the best way for people to contact you is through your website?
Brooke: Probably best through my email at bbenincosa@gmail.com. And my last name is BENINCOSA. Or you can find me on Facebook and Instagram under Brooke Benincosa. And then you can scroll through, I do post a lot of videos, I post a lot of free tips and education, I do a lot of Instagram lives. So, people can always tune in and have those resources as well.
Emmalou: Awesome. That is wonderful. You have a lot of valuable information. Thank you for sharing it.
Brooke: Thank you, Emmalou. Absolutely
Emmalou: I think we all could do with some healing right now.
Brooke: I think we could do I think this time with COVID. And everything is really, I mean, I have loved it. Because I’ve been able to really work on myself and my own trauma and really go inward. And I would have not had that opportunity without quarantine, which I’m blessed for. I know a lot of people aren’t, they’re not thrilled about it. But I think Mother Earth is telling us stay at home one side go internal and feel because when we feel ourselves, we’re going to help feel Mother Earth. And we’re going to help feel our mankind I was I give the description of osmosis. And in Dr. Joe dispenza. He talks a lot about heart and brain coherence, making the brain and the heart synchronized. And they did the study once one person is able to sync up their heart and mind. Other people energetically sync that to your heart. So you’re helping young people just by healing you. And that’s what that phrase, Be the change you want to see in the world. It really starts with you. And when I was a nurse working on a cardiac unit, there’s no science for me to like, I don’t know, this is just what I noticed, because I looked at heart monitors all day, I would look at people’s heart rhythms all day, 14 hours a day. And I noticed when I was in my heart center, I could see my patient’s hearts going into normal sinus rhythm right in front of me when I would sit there and concentrate on my heart.
Emmalou: Wow.
Brooke: So, for me, that was my validation of how powerful us healing ourselves can be for other people. It makes it so much easier for people around you to heal when you’ve done your work for yourself. And I saw that on a cardiac monitor. And I thought that was beautiful. And it made me cry. When I saw it. I was like, oh my goodness, because I would get report from other nurses. And they’d be they were in a fib all night; they were in these crazy rhythms all night. But when I worked, they were fine for me, their heart rate would be very beautiful, very synchronized, when I would focus on my heart.
Emmalou: So it all starts with the individual, let’s heal ourselves and then other people.
Brooke: Yeah, it does start with us. It starts with us doing our work. And another thing with the womb healing that I want people to really visualize is sometimes it’s not even your trauma. Because when you Your mother is inside of your grandma, your ovaries and your sex organs, even for men are some of the first things to be formed. And so, you are inside of your grandma, when your mother when your grandma was pregnant with your parents with your mother. And so, you are carrying on all their generational trauma to so we work a lot with releasing generational trauma that might not be yours. There’s a lot of subconscious, in our DNA from our grandparents, and you think about where our grandparents came from 20s 30s 40s that was during World War One, everyone was very much in survival then they were in that survival stage. And I think that many women and men just had a hard time they made a presented going to where they made a resented being a mother in that time, because it was hard back then it was not easy. It’s hard. Now it’s a different type of heart. But back then that energy is still affecting us today. And it is our job to clear that even though it was not ours. We clear it we clear for our ancestors; we clear it for us. And when we do that we’re going to heal our children. We’re going to heal our parents, and we’re going to help everyone heal by doing that generational work as well as you are very much inside your grandma when your grandma’s pregnant with your mind
Emmalou: And releasing all of those trapped emotions that are harming us. Yeah, awesome. Well, thank you, Brooke. This has been very helpful. You’re welcome. me on my website if people want to learn more.
Brooke: Sounds good, thank you.
Emmalou: You have a great day.
Brooke: You too.
