Dr. Carol Basile is the mother of a son with Autism who was born in the late 60’s, when little was known about this topic. She endured the harsh label of “refrigerator mom”, being told her son’s struggles were her fault, being ignored by professionals when she tried to point out her son’s strengths, all while doing her own research and valiantly fighting for her child.
